When the plots of reclusive author Elly Conway's fictional espionage novels begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past. Accompanied by her cat Alfie and Aidan, a cat-allergic spy, Elly races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Conway's fictional world and her real one begins to blur.
Look, at the end of the day I had fun. The film is very flawed and sometimes even stupid. But if you can turn off your brain it's a good time. Conceptually, it is a good idea. But it does go a bit overboard with it's twists. The characters are undercooked and Bryce Dallas Howard ended up being miscast for this. There was one particularly annoying moment in the film where they easily could have killed the villain, but the film would have ended, so they couldn't. There's this skating scene in the movie that I have such mixed feelings about. It was simultaneous one of the dumbest, but also at the same time kinda cool/funny scenes in the movie. The film was a bit too over the top ridiculous, but it was fun. 6/10
