This is ok for what it is. Better than I thought it would be. But I think it's biggest problem is that it is just trying to tackle too much of the story so it can't really dig deep enough. As I was watching though I've realized it actually would be kinda cool to have a chosen level of show about early church history. There is so much history and there is a lot of drama that would make for compelling television, including a lot of what this movie covers, but you kinda need the time a TV show offers to dig deep enough for these stories. But that kinda show would be controversial no matter how it's executed, so I doubt I'd ever get anything like that for that reason. Anyway back to this movie. The acting wasn't great, but it wasn't awful either. It was serviceable enough. The story is interesting at the very least, it's just a bit all over the place. I feel like if you are going to approach this story from the reporter interview angle, I feel like you need some more interesting material to match to make framing this story in that way have any impact and be effective. But the reporter didn't really feel like a real character. It's also interesting that it's David Whitmer that is being interviewed and I feel like David Whitmer doesn't get much screentime. It focuses more on the other witnesses and other church leaders more than David Whitmer. So I just think that's a weird way to frame the story. But it's at least an interesting story and is watchable.
