While I think parts of this were sweet and charming, I do think that ultimately the film wastes it's time while trying to tackle too much. There were also some aspects to the approach of the story that didn't work for me. I don't think the imaginary friend worked. Also I think having Austin narrate throughout didn't work for me since the narration wasn't really insightful. The story tries to tackle unplanned parenthood, osteo imperfecta, autism, crisis of faith, alcoholism, bullying. It's kinda a lot and it really spends too much time highlighting how often he broke bones. I think it could have worked had the script been a bit more focused and using it's time more effectively. They try to give the bully a redemption arc, but his character gets like 5 minutes of screentime so it doesn't really land. The struggle with alcoholism is too short changed that it really scratches just the surface. Overall, it didn't completely work for me, but it really wasn't a bad film and does have it's moments, the acting is decent enough. The story is at the very least interesting. It just needed a bit of a better script. 6/10
