An adventure 65 million years in the making.
A wealthy entrepreneur secretly creates a theme park featuring living dinosaurs drawn from prehistoric DNA. Before opening day, he invites a team of experts and his two eager grandchildren to experience the park and help calm anxious investors. However, the park is anything but amusing as the security systems go off-line and the dinosaurs escape.
John Williams is a genius. Steven Spielberg is a genius. And of course got to give credit to Michael Crichton and David Koepp as well for genius screenplay and Crichton for the original novel. This film is just well executed in all aspects. Spielberg does such a good job directing. So many iconic shots in this movie. The way he is able to show the magic and wonder of the dinosaurs in the beginning and progress into the horror is just so well done. The visuals also even look good for a movie from the 90s. Doesn't even really feel that dated. The cast is iconic as well, particularly Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum who all excel in their respective roles. But truth be told, for me, the shining star of this film will always be John Williams' score. His score here is a masterpiece, which is a term I don't use lightly, but could also be applied to the film as a whole. This film will always be one of the greats, a true classic, which continues to withstand the test of time. 10/10
