400 A.D., in a forgotten time of Ancient America, a lone Hebraic fugitive must preserve the history of his fallen nation while being hunted by a ruthless tyrant – but rescuing the King's abused mistress could awaken a warrior's past.
I'll note I'm a current practicing Mormon, so this isn't me just hating on the religion or anything, the film is just simply awful in really every category. I feel like there are so many cool and interesting stories in the book of Mormon and to go with a completely made up story was certainly a choice. I could probably forgive that if the story was remotely interesting. But it was really just about as bland and cliche of a love story as it gets. The acting, I'm afraid, was not good. The script itself was awful. The editing in this movie was also extremely bad. I was bored the whole time, the characters were all one note. There really was a lot of just showing Moroni thinking. That got extremely old especially considering they showed his thinking face like 20 times. The book of Mormon is supposed to be another testament of Jesus Christ and this has surprisingly very little focus on Jesus. He's mentioned just a couple of times. But really it was just focused on Moroni falling in love with a Lamanite girl and also him sitting around thinking. Very little actually happens in this movie. I think there is some potential for a good story about events in the book of Mormon whether you believe in it or not, but this simply was not it. 1/10
