After her life falls apart, soft-spoken actress Laura Franco finds her voice again when she meets a terrifying, yet weirdly charming, monster living in her closet.
Saw this at the secret movie this month. And full disclosure, rom-coms really aren't my thing. This very much fits into that genre. And it really didn't work for me. It was incredibly formulaic, predictable. The dialogue was often very cliche. The two leads didn't have enough chemistry to really draw me in and get invested. Plus I knew how the story would play out from the very beginning. The acting was serviceable, nothing groundbreaking. The only unconventional thing about this was the ending, and while I appreciated it finally doing something different, it really didn't work. I won't spoil it but it ultimately isn't satisfying. Maybe I'm not the one to ask since this really isn't a genre I generally gravitate towards, but it just felt like the millionth version of beauty of the beast type movie that didn't really bring enough fresh elements to make revisiting this type of story worth it. 4/10
