New Years Eve, 1999. The last party before...
Two high school nobodies make the decision to crash the last major celebration before the new millennium on New Year's Eve 1999. The night becomes even crazier than they could have ever dreamed when the clock strikes midnight.
While the film certainly has it's fun moments, the film is way over reliant on nostalgia. The film always felt like it was winking at the audience. Didn't seem like much thought was put into the story or the characters. I need more than nostalgia to be engaged, and I never fully was. I had a good time watching it though for the most part. Still wouldn't call it a particularly good movie, nor would I recommend anyone go out if their way to see this. I think the premise of the movie had potential to be so much more. It seems like you could actually do a lot more with an alternate version of history where Y2K did turn into some technological apocalyptic nightmare. The film is just too busy focusing on 90s references that it never really comes close to realizing that potential. 5/10
