In a segregated Texas, five Mexican-American teenage caddies were prohibited from playing at the country club where they worked. Against all odds, they formed their own team, built a one-hole course in the fields, and won the 1957 Texas State championship. Based on a true story.
The film won me over in the end. The film is flawed, full of cliches and bad dialogue. It can be a bit cheesy. But in the end it really is just a great feel good story. It's inspirational and has a good message about being the better person and facing hatred with dignity and honor. The characters were all really good as well. I loved Pollo. He added a bit of levity to the film which was great. Overall 7/10
