Ana María Acosta studied Fine Arts at the Instituto Departamental de Bellas Artes in Cali where she graduated in 2001. She later graduated as a fashion designer from the Fundación Academia de Dibujo Profesional de Cali in 2006. She also completed a diploma course in Costume Design for the Performing and Audiovisual Arts at the Javeriana University in Bogota and participated in the workshop "Arquitecturas Efímeras" of the Ministry of Culture and the Embassy of Spain.
